Winterferien Tag 1 - 20.12.2024 - Kreblitz - (english below)
Was gibt es hier? Komoot gefragt: Einen Kranichturm.

------------------------------------------------------------
The first sentence, the opening sentence, is the most beautiful thing about the entire
blog entry. It sets the mood and foreshadows the
past, like an overture. It inspires me so much,
that my head has just been snoozing and I've written several first sentences for the first
blog entry of the winter vacations. So many, in fact, that I
I couldn't decide and had to write a meta-first sentence.
And as it happens, once I've started writing,
the other ideas evaporate, as if with the first sentence
set the course for a certain track on which the train is now rolling along.
now rolls along. For demonstration purposes, I'll try to write the next
next time something like this happens again, I'll try to write down several first sentences,
before I start the blog entry.
Snoozing - a good transition
transition - I needed to snooze more than I have for a long time. A
A mixture of the start of the vacations, a change in the weather and other things made it necessary.
For days, no weeks, no months, today we finally had blue skies again
blue sky again today, lots of blue sky and a really bright thing,
which has now gone again. I'll have to google what it was.
Anyway, I needed my sunglasses. Oh, now I remember
remembered, it must have been the sun, it's in the word “sunglasses”.
“sunglasses”. Anyway, the aforementioned mixture made me tired,
headache and constant hunger.
It was very smart of me that I only
I only cycled as far as Kreblitz today, 3.5 hours. And it was even smarter that
I called yesterday to see if I could even stay the night here.
Profimove! The first campsite in the Spreewald (if you've never heard of
Kreblitz: Spreewaldgegend, Niederlausitz) that was open in winter (thanks to
was open in winter (thanks to Park4Night, no, no advertising, I pay my monthly
my monthly fee), wanted 40€ for the night and the opening
opening hours were a bit complicated: I didn't know if I would be there at
I would be there at 14:00, I had to drive through Berlin after all
and theoretically I wanted to leave before 9 the next day. So I called the
next one, Sonnencamping in Kreblitz, someone would be there until 16:00.
I
arrived at 12:30, nobody was there. Nowhere. In the whole area
nobody seemed to be there. The place I drove through to reach the campsite
in the middle of nowhere is tiny and with my mood dampened by tiredness and a headache
and a headache, I asked myself: What the hell am I doing
here? Oh yes, I was hungry too. There was no McDonald's in the area
in the area, and neither did Burger King. I had specially ordered a
a wheat-free bun so that I could modify my burger, but
Fiddlesticks, there wasn't even one here. Luckily I always pack
and it only took me three seconds to change my mind,
that I would eat the already cooked potatoes, sauerkraut and a
grilled cheese. And in a place where I could go for a walk with
Piccio for a walk afterwards. What's on offer here? Komoot asked: A
Crane tower. No, it doesn't look like a crane, it's there to watch cranes.
it's there to watch cranes. It was surprisingly bigger than
expected.
Eating
(my bus still smells of grilled cheese, but thanks to the
odor blindness effect I no longer smell it), nap off.
Oh yes, did I mention a headache? Really annoying. Great weather,
Stupid weather.
We climbed the tower and, as expected, saw no cranes
cranes (we would have been wrong!), the migration season is over.
We - I was just looking for a nice antonym to climb, came across
I came across descend, but I'm not sure if you can use it as “to descend”.
“descend”, German teachers please report! -
descended the tower again and walked into the field, along a straightened stream.
along a straightened stream. It's probably better called a ditch. In my condition
I could have been angry about the straightening if there hadn't been
something had moved. Something big. And again. We stopped and
and looked. An otter peeked out of the ditch and looked at us.
And looked and I looked and the otter looked and I looked, it swam on
swam on, looked again, I looked back again. Obviously
we both suspected nothing bad and just looked at each other. And
Piccio? Luckily she didn't notice. I think she was too
small to see him in the ditch. Well, if an otter lives in a straightened river
river, there's probably enough nature to make him feel at home.
I am a big fan of gender-inclusive language and have just spent some time
just spent some time trying to figure out how I could tell if it was an otter
whether it could have been an otter or a female otter.
might have been. Something like: Otter males only live alone, females always
in groups - No, I didn't find anything like that, dear reader,
please enlighten me here, or accept my ignorance. But what I did find
found is the OTTERSPOTTER. I will report my find here,
I am a little bit proud of it, now in retrospect ;-).
It is
is more complicated than I thought - registering first etc... And the
reporting is complicated... It's a trap... all right, I'll go through with it now
for the otter.
I was still hungry after the otter,
SvenJack and a banana helped, then I was able to check in. A
small, very informal campsite with a nice Berliner and a somewhat
a man and a woman who were a bit awkward with their communication, probably permanent campers.
probably. They talked about my dog “Oh, a fighting rat.” -
Me: “Well, more of a fox.” He: “Oh yes, that's right.” Further, not
important course of the conversation. Me: “Yes, we both do sport together.”
Him: “He looks fitter than his mistress.” All the bystanders:
“You can't say that like that.” I had to smile because it was
was obviously a reflex sentence. It didn't hit me,
It was all good. And then the campsite manager told us that there were cranes
morning there were cranes in the meadow next door and the huge birds
I saw flying were probably also cranes. In the meantime
some just stay here for the winter. I would certainly hear them tomorrow
hear them tomorrow. Yes, we were wrong, up on the crane tower.
Then
the bus was finally set up for camping, the auxiliary heating
switched on and I was dead tired myself. I allowed myself a sleepy
dozing, during which my head came up with the many different first sentences for this
for this blog post, none of which I realized in the end.
The train has rolled on with momentum and I'll stop writing now
I'll stop writing now, nobody will want to read my posts because they'll be too long ;-).
long ;-).
