Roadtrip DK Di - Do 8.-10.8.23

Wahnsinn. 61 Knoten, zeigte der Windmesser an. Das zerrte an meinem Gleichgewicht. Wirklich krass.

Anyone who thinks kitesurfing is completely controllable is wrong and making a huge mistake. No, nothing happened to me and I haven't seen any accidents recently, I just remembered that people don't practice triggering enough. Basically. You shouldn't even think about triggering now or not, the situation can turn from seemingly controlled to an accident. Launching and landing are, as should be obvious to everyone, the biggest problem. I have a Naish Pivot 9m² from 2016 and apparently it has slight flow problems at the zenith. Two sessions, two crashes on the beach. And then it just has to be released. Learned by heart. It falls down, falls into the power zone, release. And the grip has to sit. I can't stand it when people say, "Yeah, I know that in theory, but the bunching up is so uncomfortable." Wow. Such short-sightedness. But I'm not telling you anything new there either, foresight is not a general ability of humans.

13:37

First kite session. The 9er was too big. But I was still 50min on the water and it is always nicer to be kited than not. This afternoon the wind should still go down, then again. [Spoiler: The wind didn't go down and I didn't feel like it] Also, I'm finally pulling this off to buy another 7er. For the few times I will be here at the fjord. Or also times in such a way stop... Otherwise foiling is the order of the day.

Tuesday

Tuesday was Big Storm day and road tripping. Started my view of the storm with 50 knots in Hanstholm. Couldn't do much more than get out of the car once and struggle towards a good photo and video spot. And as I just heard, exactly on this day Joshua Emanuel jumped the new kite world record of 36,2m height at this spot. But I didn't see it. In fact, someone just came down from the water when I arrived there. But who was that... Anyway, someone who I think is crazy 😂 and obviously knows what he's doing. Very horny anyway.

I drove on to Løkken to my emotional goal: "To buy a t-shirt in the surf store." Armed with rain pants, rain jacket and cycling goggles, I set off through town towards the beach. Apparently the surf store was closed and I struggled on to the view on the beach. Madness. 61 knots, showed the wind meter. That tugged at my balance. Really crass. And beautiful.

I then went to what appeared to be another surf store, only to find that they all belonged together and I would find the t-shirt in the other store. Løkken is set up pretty cool by these stores (plus a cool bike store in the surf store). The clothing parts store has a cafe inside and it has a pretty chill atmosphere. Especially when the storm is raging outside. The smallest adult size was unisex S - fit me then did the children's shirt 12-16 ... Now I have it and am very happy.

The hunger called and I allowed myself a ristet hot dog and fries, for experiments with red sausages I was too hungry. The day was still young enough for another trip to Skagen, where North Sea and Baltic Sea meet. Today it would certainly look particularly spectacular there. And it did.

To get all the way to the front, you had to take off your shoes, and on the way back, I couldn't tell if my feet were cold now.

It was a funny, numb feeling. They quickly warmed up again on the bus. I spent the night in Skagen at a campground.

Wednesday

The wind was still strong and I imagined that I wanted to make a city visit. Aarhus was my destination. The first stop was Elgiganten, an electronics store, like Media Markt or Saturn. I had forgotten the charging cable for my watch, which bugged me so much that I wanted to buy a replacement. It was only available once more, what luck. I ate lunch in the parking lot, the drizzle beating against the insanely dirty window panes. This was not a day for sightseeing. Thursday I would be able to kite at the fjord, so I moved over to the west. Dog walk at the kite spot Kloster, shopping in Søndervig. The supermarket had been converted into a great supermarket, just my taste.

At the campsite, I then wanted to renew the great, sea-green nail polish and how shall I say, it ended in disaster. Shortly before the last layer, I knocked over the support of my table, everything banged down and I was lucky that only the clear top coat lacquer was open. Stain on the Upholstery.  In the process, I destroyed the not yet thoroughly dried layers of the right hand and when removing the varnish on this very hand, I gradually destroyed more and more nails of the left hand, so that I had to repaint 8 fingers in the end. The top coat then dried so poorly that it was not ready to go to bed after more than an hour. I was and the nails looked really crappy the next morning. So crappy that I just took it all off again. And I had painted them so crappy that now there is still green residue on the cuticle edges. A kite session has not yet been enough for this. Disaster, but also very funny. By the way, you should laugh more again, about mishaps and all sorts of things. There are still enough things that make you laugh your head off.

Thursday

So: The kite was too big and it was totally gusty 😂 I little child size person was properly shaken, but hey, I was kiting 😎

14:07 the wind is still too much for me 58kg person and the 9er, so I'm about to go for a walk with Piccio. She loves it so much it's a joy to watch.

22:48 I took a chance and started a new nail polish attempt. It dragged on all evening and the top coat on the right hand is still missing. That is planned for tomorrow morning. I see myself sitting in my camping chair in front of the bus and reading. I need to put the brakes on my actionism. And maybe there will be a foilsession on the North Sea in the afternoon. That would be great 💓
