Eine Wanderung, drei Höhlen - Ith Camping 11. April 2023

---------------------

This morning it was already quite cold. In the night it had rained, poured and hailed and that of everything several times. So I lay still long under the warm blanket and read until I wanted to eat breakfast. Hundi was still walked and fed before. I found an electrical outlet. The nice young people (haha, now I'm so old that I'm allowed to say that) were in their witch's cottage and had the fireplace on, when I knocked and then entered I got warmer again. And yes, I was allowed to use the outlet and you could also book the two to climb, but they want to go Thursday afternoon anyway, to re-acclimate, so to simple rocks, I could just come along. After my body now also my heart became warm. Thursday, if not all ropes tear, I can climb here. Very cool!

Shortly after, my bus also warmed up and my mood shot up. I really like that such "ordinary" things matter again in camping - a warm and dry shelter. And having water is so incredibly undervalued by us!

I spent the rather rainy morning reading, and after lunch we headed out for a 10km hike. My first plan was to check out two other climbing areas around here, then Komoot told me there were three caves in the area.

That's how I came across #1:

On the left is the entrance and on the right is a picture taken vertically down. Such a bummer that the cave was locked, otherwise you could have smoothly rappelled into it with spelunking gear. But wait! There's no lock on the grate at all....

The second cave was less claustrophobic because it was closed due to bird breeding and then the third, Rothensteinhöhle I entered equipped with a headlamp.

You could walk upright and it was ok wide. At some point you had to climb down a bit to the right and then went on for another 30m. After a total of 60m was for normalos end.

The cave goes on somehow, but not for hikers.

What had me totally fascinated and inspired, what that there was a lot of mica in the rock, what has reflected in the light of the headlamp so wonderful. On the second picture you can perhaps guess something of it.

With very good mood it went back and exactly the one shower Piccio and I have sat out in the Biker Treff on the Ith ridge with a piece of blueberry pie. Yummy. Tomorrow there will be apple pie.

Almost 4 hours later we were back again.

Piccio is already sleeping and I am also really pleasantly tired. That was a nice hike. ★★★★★
